The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. Some Colleges in India also consider SAT scores for admission. The SAT is wholly owned, developed, and published by the College Board, a private, not-for-profit organization in the United States. It is administered on behalf of the College Board by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The test is intended to assess students' readiness for college.
There are two main categories of tests under SAT viz. SAT (General/Reasoning) and SAT Subjects. The SAT (General/Reasoning) is comprised of two sections: 1) Evidence-Based Reading, Writing and 2) Math. There are altogether 20 subjects offered in SAT Subjects category. SAT Subject Tests are college admission exams on specific subjects.
SAT is offered 8 times in a U S school academic year and SAT Subject Tests are generally given six times in any given school year, on the same days and in the same test centres. These are only scholastic and subject proficiency tests where you choose the tests that best showcase your strengths and interests. You can take one, two, or three Subject Tests on any test date. You can’t take the SAT and an SAT Subject Test on the same day.
