The grand Onam celebration at Indian School Muscat on Friday, 27th September, 2024, was not only a festive occasion for the staff and their families but also a prestigious event graced by esteemed members of the Board of Directors. The Chairman, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Vice Chairman, Mr. Syed Salman, Finance Director, Mr. Nidheesh Kumar along with other distinguished members of the Board and School Management Committee present, added to the significance of the celebration.
King Mahabali was welcomed with the traditional Thalapoli and Panchavadyam, symbolizing the spirit of Onam, extending a warm, traditional greeting. The lighting of the lamp added to the auspicious start of the celebration. The program began with the traditional Panchavadyam, a percussion ensemble that set the festive mood with its rhythmic beats.
Various departments of the school contributed to the vibrant atmosphere by putting together a series of performances that showcased their talents. These included captivating song renditions, energetic dance routines, and an engaging mime performance, all of which delighted the audience and added to the festive spirit.
Following the cultural performances, a series of games brought a sense of fun and excitement to the celebration. Among the highlights was the tug-of-war, which fostered friendly competition and teamwork among participants, creating moments of laughter and camaraderie. The staff's enthusiasm in these activities made the event even more enjoyable and memorable.
The presence of the Board members, SMC, ISC and other dignitaries who joined in to enjoy both the performances and the games, enhanced the community feel of the celebration. The event concluded with the traditional Onam Sadhya, a grand feast that everyone relished together, marking the end of a day filled with joy, unity, and cultural pride.
