“IT’S TIME TO PRIORITIZE MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE”

Objective
The World Mental Health Week 2024 at ISM was dedicated to increasing awareness of the significance of mental health, particularly in the workplace. This initiative involved students, faculty, and administrators in a series of purposeful activities aimed at promoting contemplation, dialogue, and practical measures to prioritize mental well-being.

Activities Overview
1. PA Systems Assembly on World Mental Health Week Objective:
Create awareness among students regarding World Mental Health Day.

Execution

During the assembly, counsellors in the Senior and students from the Middle sections and the Primary section shared brief talks, quotes, and messages on mental health, highlighting its importance in school. This created an opportunity for students to reflect on their mental health and that of others.

2. Counsellor’s Talk During Hall Assembly Objective
Emphasize the importance of mental well-being alongside physical health.

Execution:
School counsellors addressed students during the general assembly, delivering key messages about mental health, well-being, and self-care strategies for maintaining a healthy mind in the Middle Section.

3. Poster Making Activity
Theme: “Things You Can Do to Make Your Teacher Feel Good” Objective
Encourage students to reflect on ways to support their teachers ’ mental health.

Execution
Students across sections participated in the activity during their Art periods, creating posters that highlighted positive actions they could take to make their teachers feel supported and valued, promoting a nurturing school environment for all.

4. Selfie Corner for Staff: "Selfie with Your Work Buddy” Objective
Reflect on support systems that enhance staff mental health.

Execution

Throughout the week, staff members took selfies with their work buddies and shared these with section counselors. Presentations made of the images, accompanied by a mental health quote, were created and displayed on LCD displays across the school.
5. Brooch and Stickers Distribution Objective
Raise awareness of mental health among teachers and students.

Execution

All school staff, CSE staff, and BOD staff received mental health-themed brooches, while students were given stickers with simple, positive mental health quotes appropriate to their age group from classes KG to XII.

6. Class Talk for Primary Section (Classes 1-4) Objective
Educate young students on the importance of mental health through different simple ways.

Execution

A series of talks were organized for 54 classes from class I - IV including the afternoon shift, focusing on the importance of smiling, kindnesses and how to make their peers, teachers and parents feel good / happy, appropriate for young students.

7. Flash Mob by Senior Section Students Objective:
Foster engagement and excitement about mental health awareness.

Execution

A flash mob was organized for the senior students. This energetic performance, based on the theme “Mental Health in a Cyberspace,” aimed to capture attention and promote positive mental health messages to students and staff alike.

Impact of the World Mental Health Week Observance 2024 at ISM

The World Mental Health Week 2024 program garnered significant success, drawing active participation from students, teachers, and administrators. The event featured a blend of innovative activities, informative lectures, and introspective exercises, effectively increasing awareness about mental health and the pivotal role of support structures within the school environment. Both students and faculty derived substantial benefits from the opportunity to center their focus on mental well-being, thereby reinforcing the significance of prioritizing mental health in both daily life and professional settings.
