PONGAL AND MAKAR SANKRANTHI

Pongola! Pongal! The shout with joy symbolizes happiness, prosperity and joy. The festival is unique as it is celebrated across the country in different forms, Lohri in Punjab, Bihu in Assam and Makar Sankranthi in several states. The word Pongal means boiling over and signifies prosperity, hence rice and milk are boiled over and offered to the Sun God. Makar Sankranthi is also known as Kite Festival as well as harvest festival.

The students of KGII D presented a splendid assembly, elaborating the importance of Pongal and Makar Sankranthi festival. The harvest festival was celebrated by the students with songs and dance performances. The students were well trained by the class teacher Ms Dorothy Dsouza. The event came to an end with Pre-Primary Vice Principal Ms Prema George's beautiful message on the festival and significance to the society.
We remembered through her words on the splendour of mother Earth, the role of Sun sustaining life, importance to pay gratitude to the farm animals, the farmers who has toiled all their life and most importantly the heritage of togetherness.

Indian School Muscat, Principal Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan cherished the assembly and wished Happy Pongal and Makar Sankranthi to all. Kudos! KGII D.
