Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, was celebrated with much pomp and vigor in the Indian School Muscat Pre Primary Section on August 23, 2023.The programme was attended by the Officiating Principal, Mr Saji S Nair, Vice Principal, Pre primary section, Mrs Prema George, Vice Principal Primary section Mrs Lalitha Sreenivasan, Assistant Vice Principal, Primary section, Mrs Bindu Saji, the staff and students of Pre Primary section and the families of the performing classes.














The campus adorned a festive look with everyone dressed in traditional costumes and onam songs playing in the background. There was an air of gaiety and oneness which reminded everyone of the festivities back home in India. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries invoking the blessings from above. The students of KG I - C and KG I - F took the audience back to God's own country with a foot tapping harvest dance.
The different elements of the festival like making of pookalam, traditional tiger dance called the pulikkali and the boat race called the valamkkali was portrayed with much zeal. The audience was mesmerized by the young Mahabali who came to visit his people. They gave a thunderous applause for the lovely programme by these children, trained by their class teachers, Mrs Anima Shettigar and Mrs Sarah Crasto under the able guidance of the Vice Principal.














The Officiating Principal, Mr Saji S Nair addressed the audience and applauded the efforts of the class teachers and students. He also appreciated the Pre Primary teachers who always put up programmes par excellence under the mentorship of the Pre Primary Vice principal. He thanked the parents for their unwavering cooperation and reminded them to always cherish their little ones first stage performance.
