ISM MINES GOLD AT THE CBSE NATIONALS AND BECOMES UNDER 14 GIRLS CHAMPIONS IN ATHLETICS

Indian School Muscat students performed admirably well in the 24th CBSE National Games, 2022-’23 held at various venues across India in December 2022, January, and February 2023. The highly spirited contenders in various games converged from the CBSE-affiliated schools in India and the Arabian Gulf, at venues across India. Earlier they had qualified at various cluster meets conducted in several locations during the second half of 2022.

In the nail-biting Chess Championship held at Brookfield International School, Chandigarh, Punjab, the wizards of Indian School Muscat brought glory to the school winning over more than 85 teams and 650 players. Shybi Binoj of Class IX won the Gold Medal and was crowned the Individual Champion title in the U-17 category for girls. The winning streak got perfected with the capture of prizes for the Best Players. Ekansh Goel of Class X and Shybi Binoj of Class IX won the Best Player Award in the U-17 category for boys and girls respectively. The stunning performance of Darsan Rajmohan of Class VII won him the Best Player title in the U-14 category for boys.

In Athletics Championship, at Sant Atulanand Convent School, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, ISM presented a record number of athletes and they made their mark indelible at the meet venue. For the first time in the history of participation in the Nationals, ISM sent 5 qualified relay teams - two boys’ teams, and 3 girls’ teams belonging to U19, U17, and U14 categories. The U14 girls’ team outshone all other worthy contestants bagging Gold Medal in the 4x100 relay. Namia Najeeb- VII B, Sree Nidhuna. P. Nair – VII L, Manha Mariyam – VIII F, and Evelia Achsah – VIII L are the golden girls who were gilded with Gold Medals, making the school proud. This athletic team won the most coveted Overall Team Championship Trophy in U14 Girls’ Category.

ISM achieved a breakthrough when Harshpreet Singh of class IX along with his Delhi School teammate beat their strong rivals, winning the Silver Medal in Badminton Mixed Doubles held at Jhunjhunu Academy, Rajasthan.

Chrisann Lara of class IX added a new sheen to the medal tally with her superb performance in the National Swimming Championship held at Genius English Medium School, Rajkot, Gujarat, winning the bronze medals in 50m and 100 m freestyle in the U-17 girls’ category.

Under the supervision and training of the expert ISM coaches, the youngsters vetted their mettle. They received great support and cheer from enthusiastic parents, teachers, and well-wishers.

The School Management Committee, Principal - Dr. Rajeev Kumar Chauhan and the entire ISM fraternity congratulated the winners, participants as well as their coaches and the entire Physical Education Department on their amazing accomplishments, and wished them greater luck in their future efforts.
