ISM ORGANIZES MODEL UNITED NATIONS 2023

The seventh edition of the Indian School Muscat Model United Nations Conference-2023 (ISM-MUN 2023) was convened on 17th and 19th of August 2023. The conference witnessed more than 600 delegates, 40 Dais Members, 30 topics, and 17 committees participating in the two-day long conference.
Model United Nations is an academic replication of the United Nations, wherein students endeavor to unravel real-world issues with the strategies and perspectives of their assigned country, as delegates hailing from them.

In the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest of the occasion, Mr. Mohammad Imran Khan, Treasurer, School Management Committee, reiterated the importance of fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and inclusive environment. The platform of United Nations would occupy the student community with comprehensive and practical resolutions to the problems that they deliberated representing the world leaders.
Officiating Principal Mr. Saji S Nair extended his appreciation and encouragement for achieving the radiant objectives of Model United Nations which undoubtedly encourage the student community to embark upon world peace.

The Secretary-General, Justus Sebastian, while declaring conference open, highlighted that in a world often beset by challenges, the Model United Nations serves as a beacon of hope - a testament to the belief that when diverse perspectives converge, they create a mosaic of solutions that can shape our shared destiny.
The delegates were divided into 15 committees namely DISEC, UNSE, UNEP, WHO, UNOOSA, UNW, UNODC, UNHRC, UNICEF, UNODC, NATO, and ICJ, AIPPM, PC, HCC and were allocated countries. They deliberated a wide range of topics ranging from Countering Transnational Organised Crime and Legal Drug Traffic, Chemical Industry Disasters and Protecting Marine Life across the Globe.

Chief Guest of the closing ceremony Mr. Aleem Mohiuddin, Chair IT Subcommittee, Indian School Muscat appreciated the hard work and commitment that each student has put in showcasing their leadership qualities. He urged the student community to grab any occasion that would unveil their skills in diplomacy and negotiation, opening the gateways of reconciliation in peace-building

On the final day, after the committee sessions, the delegates of each committee, who displayed exceptional skills were commended by their respective Dias members. The Best Committee Conventional Award was bagged by UNISEF and the Best Committee Nonconventional Award was bagged by ATTACK ON TITAN.
"ISM-MUN 2023 was a launching pad that sets us in motion in combating various issues, counting their Political, Social and Educational implications which escalates the levels of critical thinking and problem solving said Neha Najeeb, delegate of UNOOSA.

The highest-ranking Dais member Secretary Justus Sebastian, the second in command Director General Anirudh Menon and the Director of Finance Alishba Khan along with the team of Dais members conducted two days of ISM-MUN 2023 with the support and guidance of the School Management Committee, Mr. Saji S Nair, the Officiating Principal, Mrs Reshmi Singh, the Vice Principal, Senior Section and Mr. Joyson Cyril the Assistant Vice Principal Senior Section. The conference, organized by the Department of Social Science of the Senior Section, was coordinated by the Head of the Department Mr. Vikram Singh Yaduvanshi.
