40th ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET AND DRILL DISPLAY AT ISM
On Thursday, 25th February 2016, the 40th Annual Athletic Meet and the Drill Display of Indian School Muscat was held in all grandeur at the school grounds. Amidst the display of colours created by scores of flags and decorations, the spirited young athletes ridden with energy displayed their great acumen in track and field events. It is one of the prestigious events of the school, rewarding the four houses for their team effort during the year. The four houses equally displayed their grit and dexterity in their crucial bid for the Cock House Trophy presented to the Champion House.
His Excellency Shri Indra Mani Pandey Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman graced the occasion as Chief Guest. A special guard of honour made-up of the Scouts and Guides and Student Council members welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests. Winners of CBSE Nationals, in a gesture of reception, presented potted plants to the Chief Guest and the other distinguished guests.

Naidu, Vice Principals and Asst. Vice Principals of various sections, teachers and a large number of parents and students witnessed the meet.
Dr. Avirat Vaishnav while welcoming the gathering appreciated and thanked all those who were a part directly or indirectly of the fulfillment of the dream project, the Astro-turf Field. His Excellency accompanied by the Principal inaugurated the Astro-turf Field, which is a giant leap and an exponential milestone, by releasing balloons and setting free a flight of pigeons. Mr. Riyaz Kuttery, accompanied by the Principal flagged-off the football match and steered-in the first field event on the top-class Astro Turf Field. Mr. R.S. Pathyarch Head of Department Physical Education and the coach of ISM Athletic team Mr. Johns Abraham jointly began the first track event on the maiden synthetic track. Prodigious athletes who represented ISM at the CBSE Nationals jogged on the track, holding high the School Flag in reverence.
The majestic March Past to the tune of ‘Hum Honge kamyaaab’, one of the prestigious events of the Sports Meet comprising four contingents, represented the four houses with elegance, military pomp, precision and coordination. Head Boy Alen Jiji Tom, the Head Girl Angela Alex and the members of the Students’ Council, led the March Past. The flag of ISM, held high by the Head Boy swayed gently in the centre. They were followed by the four houses that marched royally in their distinct colours – Red, Green, Blue and Yellow led by their Captains Hannock Rajan, Prashant Matapathi, Hensi Kara, and Rachit Nair respectively. The flag bearers of all the four Houses with their contingents marched around the school ground amidst great precision and cheer. The School Band led by the band master Mr. Nandlal Sharma, played a marching tune – a confluence of instruments, adding splendour to the march past. Renowned judges adjudged the splendid march past. Chief Guest, His Excellency declared the 40th Annual Athletic Meet and Drill Display open. The Sports Coordinator Avantika Murali took the oath on behalf of the students, promising their enthusiasm to participate and compete abiding by the rules laid down. Drill Display conquered the hearts of the gathering with its varied and intricate dynamics. More than 2500 students from across various sections participated adding vigour to the day.
On this grand occasion Mr. Abdul Malik Abdul Karim Al Balushi CEO Oman Post accompanied by the Principal and Mrs. Priya Murali Vice –Principal Primary Section released the First Day Cover highlighting the 40 glorious years of ISM in presence of all the dignitaries. As a token of appreciation and gratitude Dr. Avirat presented mementoes to our esteemed Chief Guest His Excellency and to all other distinguished guests.
A series of decisive and exciting inter-house athletic events were conducted on the occasion. The Cock House Trophy, March Past Trophy and the much sought-after Athletic Championship Trophy for the year 2015 – 2016 were swept and proudly lifted by the Blue House. House Captain Hensi Kara along with House Master Mr. Muraleedharan Thampy and the House Mistress Mrs. Daisy Antony received the trophies amidst deafening applause.
Individual champions in various categories also received their rightly deserved trophies at the function. The following are the Individual Champions: Raj Vardhan of Blue House (Sub-Junior boys), Antonio Biju of Green House (Junior Boys), Xavier Dsouza of Yellow House (Intermediate Boys), Irfan Ummer of Red House and Ismail Khalid of Blue House (Pre-Senior Boys) and Mohd. Hisham of Red House (Senior Boys) were the proud champions in the boys’ category. Alfina Thomas of Yellow House and Oindrilla Sanyal of Red House (Sub- Junior), Harshita Ramesh of Blue House and Roylin Pereira of Red House (Junior Girls), Natasha Raji of Green House and Abir Zubeda of Blue House (Intermediate Girls), Anoushka Punja of Red House (Pre-Senior Girls) and Evelyn Fernandes of Blue House (Senior Girls) bagged championships in the Girls’ category. Olympian Mr. Sreejesh Ravindran, Mr. Mohammad Basheer and Mr. Riyaz Kuttery accompanied by the Principal gave away the prizes to the excited winners of various events.
With the sounding of the Last Post, the show came to a befitting end. The flag was brought down and handed over to the four House Captains. They handed it over to the Head Boy and the Head Girl in highest solemnity who in turn gave it to the Chief Guest. The Principal received the flag from the Chief Guest. This symbolic event signified the end of the sporting activities of the school for the year 2015 – 16. Head Boy proposed the vote of thanks. All lauded the dedicated efforts of the staff led by the Principal Mr. Srinivas K. Naidu, Mr. R.S Pathyarch Head of the Department of Physical Education and his team, the support staff and the enthusiastic students for making the 40th Annual Athletic Meet and drill display a success.
ISM TEAM SHINES AT CBSE NATIONAL ATHELETIC MEET.
Indian School Muscat students did exceptionally well in the 20th CBSE National Athletic Meet held from Saturday 26th to Wednesday 30th December 2015, at N H Goel World School, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. Over one lakh fifty thousand athletes from the CBSE affiliated schools in India and the Arabian Gulf Countries, who had won and qualified for the Nationals at various cluster athletic meets conducted in various locations, competed in this meet.
In U19 boys’ category Alfred Menezes, Jeryl Jacob, Mohammad Hisham, Mohammed Ali Iqbal and in Under 16 girls’ category Bernice Thambiraja, Anoushka Punja, Jennifer Catherine and Anakha Anil made the school proud, defeating the strong contenders of the meet and bringing home the silver medals in 4×100 meters Relay Race and making it a reason for double exhilaration.
This 20th National Meet becomes exceptionally significant for ISM as the team enjoys great joy having obtained the unique credit of winning athletic medals in all the CBSE National Athletic Meets held so far in different venues across India. Under the supervision and training of Coach Mr. Johns Abraham, the total number of medals in the CBSE National Athletic Meet has grown to ninety nine. Mr. Johns and Ms. Sindhumol Arunkumar accompanied the team to this meet. They received great support from the enthusiastic parents.

CBSE OMAN CLUSTER ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP – 2015
Indian School Muscat hosted CBSE Oman Cluster Athletic Meet at Indian School Muladha school grounds on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November 2015. The splendid inaugural ceremony held on Friday witnessed the attendance of a great number of dignitaries from the School Management Committees of both ISM and Indian School Muladha. Dr. Kazi Arshad Zafar, President SMC Indian School Muladha was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function. All the guests were ceremoniously received with bouquet of flowers.
Mr. Srinivas K Naidu Principal Indian School Muscat declared the meet open. Mr. S.I. Shareef Principal Indian School Muladha and his team did a commendable job to make the great gathering of participating teams, athletes and sports enthusiasts feel at home. Mr. Deep Wilson Vice Principal Senior Section ISM, vice principals and Asst. vice principals from participating schools, teachers, students and parents formed the great gathering.
At the end of the two-day long CBSE Oman Cluster Athletic Meet, Indian School Muscat won the overall Championship.
More than 800 athletes from 13 Indian Schools across the Sultanate of Oman, affiliated to the CBSE, New Delhi, competed in 66 various track and field events in three different age categories Under 14, Under 16, and Under 19 for both boys and girls. This athletic meet is of great significance, as it paves the way for the laudable athletes to compete at the Nationals.
Indian School Muscat won the overall Championship with 232 points. Indian School Salalah and Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir stood second and third with 224 and 70 points respectively.The following schools won various championships: In Under 19, Under 16, Under 14 boys’ and Under14 girls’ category Indian School Salalah emerged winner. Under 19 and Under 16 Girls’ categories were bagged by Indian School Muscat.
Mr. Mohd. Basheer Finance Director Board of Directors Indian Schools in Oman, honourable members of SMCs, Mr. S.I. Shareef Principal Indian School Muladha, Mr. Srinivas K Naidu Principal ISM, Vice Principals and AVPs of all sections of ISM accompanied by other dignitaries gave away the Prizes to the winning athletes, in presence of a large number of students and teachers.
Principal lauded the unmatched efforts of the Physical Education Department for the meticulous arrangements for the smooth running of the meet and exhorted the students to keep up the spirit of sportsmanship. He noted that the efforts of Mr. R.S Pathyarch CBSE Observer Oman Cluster Championships, and Mr. Johns Abraham In-charge Athletics ISM were unmatched and praiseworthy.
All the athletes, who secured the first positions at the meet, have been qualified to represent Oman Cluster at the CBSE Nationals to be held in Raipur, India later this year.

Indian School Muscat shines in the field of sports and games in various sports events in the month of October 2015.
- CBSE Oman Cluster Swimming competition was hosted by Indian School Al Ghubra on 1st October 2015. The competition was held at Holiday Inn Al Madian, Indian School Muscat secured the overall Second position by bagging 15 Gold, 29 Silver and 7 Bronze medals
- CBSE Oman Cluster Football Tournament for under 19 Boys and Girls was hosted by Indian School Muladha on 6th and 7th of October 2015. ISM Girls secured the runners up position.
- CBSE Oman Cluster Chess Championship was hosted by Indian School Sohar on 5th October 2015 for under 14 and under 19 Boys and Girls, Indian School Muscat won under 14 Boys and Girls age categories and secured runners up position in under 19 Boys and Girls.
- CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis Tournament for under 14, 16 and 19 Boys and Girls was hosted by Indian School Muscat on 4th and 5th October 2015, ISM won all the Six age categories and became the only school to represent Oman Cluster at the CBSE Nationals Table Tennis Tournament being held at Meerut, UP India from 2nd to 6th December 2015.
- CBSE Oman Cluster Badminton Tournament for under 14, 16 and 19 Boys and Girls was hosted by Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir on 11th and 12th of October 2015, Indian School Muscat won all the six age categories and became the only school to represent Oman Cluster at the CBSE National Badminton Championship being held at Varanasi, India from 19th to 24th December 2015.
- CBSE Oman Cluster Tennis Tournament 2015 was hosted by Indian School Muscat on 19th and 20th October 2015, Indian School Muscat won Under 14 Boys, under 14 Girls and under 19 Boys, with this ISM won three out of four age categories and qualified to represent Oman Cluster at the CSBSE National Tennis Championship being held at Nagpur from 26th to 30 Nov 2015
ISM Girls Shine at CBSE Badminton Clusters
In an impressive show of expertise and hard work, on Monday 12th October 2015, Indian School Muscat girls emerge winners in all age categories in the Oman CBSE Badminton Cluster Tournament held at the Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir.
In the finals, ISM girls won Gold Medal in under- 14, under -16 and under-19 age groups defeating Indian School Al Ghubra, Indian School Darsait and Indian School Al Ghubra respectively.
Nishita Karnik of ISM under -19 had won Silver Medal in the mixed doubles event in CBSE Badminton National Championship held last year in Chennai. Prizes were given away jointly by Mrs. Shilpa Pawani Member ISWK School Management Committee and the Principal of the host school Mr. D. N. Rao.
CBSE OBSERVER for Oman Region Mr.Rajinder Singh Pathyarch was also present in the Awards Ceremony. All the members of the ISM Badminton Girls Team have qualified for CBSE National Badminton Championship which will be held at Varanasi, India in December 2015.
ISM CLINCHES ENVIOUS MEDALS AT CBSE NATIONAL MEETS
Students of Indian School Muscat made history in the 19th CBSE National Athletic Meet held at Divine Child School, Mehsana, Ahmedabad in India. 620 selected schools from more than 12000 CBSE affiliated schools in India, the Gulf Countries and Nepal vied in this meet.
ISM’s U16 Girls’ relay team consisting of Rithu Cheriyan (X L), Samantha Pinto (X G), Bernice Thambiraja (IX G), and Anoushka Punja (VIII K) clinched the gold medal in the 4x100mts relay by defeating all the strong contenders of the meet. This 19th CBSE National Athletic Meet becomes singularly momentous for ISM as the same team members won the bronze medal in 4x400mts Relay Race by upsetting many other top School teams. This is the first time in ISM athletic history, the same team getting medals both in 4x100mts and 4x400mts relay races at the National Level.
It is a proud moment as Indian School Muscat is the only team in Oman which has secured 91 medals in total in all the 19 National Athletic Championships since 1996.Another milestone was reached when Nishita Karnik of Class XI K won the silver medal in mixed doubles, U-19 category in the CBSE National Badminton Tournament held at Chennai.

ISM CROWNED OVERALL CHAMPIONS
Indian School Muscat lifted the overall Championship Trophy for the year 2014 for all the Sports and Games Competitions organised by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, Sultanate of Oman. Indian School Muscat was invited to participate in the Championship through the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in the Sultanate. ISM students have placed themselves par excellence by knocking out all other participating schools from the Sultanate in the field of Sports and Games, emerging the Champions.
ISM bagged a total of eight trophies in the Championship organized for the Private and International Schools in the Sultanate. ISM students excelled in the Under 16 categories for boys and girls of Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, and Athletics. Amita Rajkumar of IX I was bestowed the title and trophy for the Best Sports Person in Basket Ball.
Principal Mr. Srinivas K Naidu applauded the winners of these prestigious accolades in a special assembly held in the school on Wednesday, 10th December 2014. Lauding the winning students, he observed that the right components or the recipe for brilliant success is the precise combination of spirited sports children and the right coaches. ISM has both these components to its own advantage and the school makes the best out of it making news in all the events they participate.
ISM SEIZES INTER- SCHOOL ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP 2014
Indian School Muscat participated in the International Inter- School Athletic Championship 2014 organized by the Kerala Wing of Indian Social Club and Oman Athletic Association on 5th & 6th December 2014 at Sultan Qaboos Stadium. ISM contingent won the Overall Championship Trophy for the second straight year.
ISM athletes maintained their perfect dominance winning the meet with 27 Gold Medals, 17 Silver Medals and 10 Bronze Medals. The Championship was organised in four categories for Boys and Girls – U12, U14, U16 and U19.
12 schools participated in this Championship including the Bangladesh School, Sri Lankan School and Omani Schools. ISM contingent comprising 50 plus athletes took part in this meet.

It is one of the prestigious events of the school, rewarding the four houses for their team efforts during the year. The four houses equally displayed their dexterity in their crucial bid for the Cock House Trophy presented to the Champion House. Amidst the riot of colours created by hundreds of flags and decorations the spirited young athletes ridden with energy displyed their great acumen in track and field events.
Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Hamad Al Yahmadi, Director of Quality Organizing and Development, Ministry of Sports Affairs, and Mr. Mohammed Al Amri, Deputy Director General of Sports, Sultanate of Oman, graced the occasion as Chief Guests. The majestic drill display involved more than 4000 students. They, with colourful props, swayed the spectators to the tunes of vibrant music. All the drills clearly highlighted excellent precision, synchronization, rhythm, movement and formation. The properties and the colour coordination added vigour to the pomp of the occasion.
The Cock House Trophy for the year 2014 – 2015 was awarded to the Blue House. Blue House Captain Ajay Deb along with House Master Unni Pillai and House Mistress Mrs. Novena Augustine recieved the trophy. Red House won the most sought-after Athletic Championship Trophy and the March Past Trohpy. House Captain Hanock Rajan along with House Master Mr. Augustine Joseph and House Mistress Ms. Tessy Roy lifted the enchanting trophies with pride from the Chief Guest amid deafening applause.

The following are the Individual Champions: Harshita Ramesh Blue House (Sub-Junior Girls), Raj Varadhan Blue House (Sub-Junior Boys), Sega Mathew Red House (Junior Girls), Charan Tej Green House (Junior Boys), Anoushka Punja Red House (Intermediate Girls), Deepak K of Red House and Aditya Sigh of Blue House (Intermediate Boys), Samanatha Pinto of Yellow House and Ritu Cheriyan of Blue House (Pre-Senior Girls), Mohd. Hisham and Aby Joseph of Red House (Pre-Senior Boys), Evelyn Fernandes Blue House (Senior Girls), and Shahid Ali Khan Green House (Senior Boys).
Chief Guests Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Hamad Al Yahmadi, Mr. Mohammed Al Amri, accompanied by Principal Mr.Srinivas K Naidu honoured the winners of these athletic events with medals. Principal presented a memento to the Chief Guests as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
With the sounding of the Last Post, the show came to a befitting end. The flag was brought down and handed over to the four House Captains. They handed it over to the Head Boy and the Head Girl in highest solemnity who in turn gave it to the Chief Guest. The Principal received the flag from the Chief Guest. This symbolic event signified the end of the sporting activities of the school for the year 2014 – 15.
Head Girl proposed Vote of Thanks. All lauded the dedicated efforts of the staff led by the Principal, the supportive staff, the enthusiastic students. Mr. R.S Pathyarch HOD Physical Education Department and his team, left no stone unturned to make the 39th Annual Athletic Meet and drill display a grand success.
CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis 2014
CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis Tournament 2014 for under 19, 16 and 14 Boys and Girls was successfully hosted by ISM on 27th and 28th of August 2014, Six Indian Schools participated in this Tournament, namely, Indian School Al wadi Al Kabir, Indian School Al Ghubra, Indian School Darsait, Indian School Al Seeb, Indian School Sur and Indian School Muscat.ISM won five out of six age categories, the winners are

In individual championship ShounakKalkar (u-14 Boys), Kenneth Vaz (u-16 Boys), ArmaanSattikar (u-19 Boys), Rhea Deepak Bhatia (u-14 Girls) and Erica Vaz(u-19) from ISM won the championship.
The winning teams will be representing the Oman Chapter at the CBSE National Table Tennis Tournament being held at Indore, India from 8th to 12th December 2014.

Indian School Muscat Boys won the Tournament by defeating Indians School Salalah by 2-0 in the finals, ISM Girls were runner up.

CBSE Oman Cluster Basketball Tournament for under 19 Boys and Girls was hosted by Indian School Al Seeb on 20th and 21st October 2014. ISM Girls won the Tournament by defeating Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir in the finals.
CBSE Oman Cluster Chess Tournament
CBSE Oman Cluster Chess Tournament for under 14 and 19 Boys and Girls was hosted by Indian School Al Ghubra on 19th October 2014, ISM secured Runner up position in all four age categories
CBSE Oman Cluster Volleyball Tournament
CBSE Oman Cluster Volleyball Tournament for under 19 Boys and Girls was hosted by Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir on 27th October 2014, ISM Boys won the Championship by defeating Indian School Darsait in the finals , ISM Girls won the Championship was defeating Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir in the finals.
In the Volleyball Tournament for under 16 hosted by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Sultanate of Oman, ISM Boys won the Tournament while Girls were Runners up.

Junior Volleyball tournament conducted by Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Education is won by Indian school Muscat Boys on 27th October, 2014 . 1. In the CBSE Oman Cluster swimming competitions, our students won medals in the following categories. 1st position holders are qualified for the National Swimming Competition to be held in India.
U-12 years:- 1st place in 4 x 50 M Medley Relay, 2nd place in 4 x 50 M free style relay, 1st place in 50 M breast stroke, 1st place in 50M breast stroke, back stroke and butterfly.
U-14 years: – 2nd place in 50M free style, 100 M free style, 50M back stroke, 50M butterfly. 2nd place in 4 x 100 M free style relay, 2nd place in 4 x 100M Medley relay, 1st place in 100M back stroke, 2nd place in 200 M free style, 2nd place in 50M back stroke, 2nd place in 4 x 100M freestyle relay.
U-16 years:- 1st place in 50M free style, 1st place in 100M butterfly, 2nd place in 50M butter fly, 100 M free style, 200M free style. 2nd place in 4 x 100M free style relay, 2nd place in 50M breast stroke, 50M back stroke, 200M breast stroke, 1st place in 400M free style & 200M butterfly, 2nd place in 100M breast stroke. 2nd place in 100M back stroke, 1st place in 800M free style, 1st place in 4 x 100 M free style relay, 2nd place in 50M butterfly, 2nd place in 100M free style.
U-19 years:- 2nd place in 100M free style, 2nd place in 4 x 100M free style relay, 2nd place in 100M back stroke, 2nd place in 50M & 100M free style, 2nd place in 4 x 100M free style relay, 1st place in 400M free style, 2nd place in 50M breast stroke, 50M back stroke, 100M back stroke, 200M free style.
CBSE Oman cluster swimming competition was held at holiday Inn Al Madinah. 40 students (Boys&Girls) participated from our school in various age categories(Under 12,14,16,&19 Yrs).14 students are Qualified to represent our school in the CBSE National Swimming championship to be held at Vadodara, Gujrat, India from 15-19 October , 2014.
Sara Elizabeth Mathew of Class X has made Indian School Muscat proud at the CBSE National Swimming Championships held between November 8th to 12th at Sonepat Haryana in India, , by clinching the bronze medal in the Under -16 girls , 100 m free style competition . The other ISM students who took part in the event are Manav Gandhi of class X and Dean D’Souza of Class XI and they were accompanied by their teacher In- charge Ms. Manju Pathyarch.
CBSE National Athletic Meet 2013 was held at Sunbeam English School, Varanasi, UP. ISM won the following positions

b. Silver Medal – (Second Position) – Under 16 Girls 4×100 Mts. Relay.
