Malika Sood, a 10th grade student of Indian School Muscat, has bagged the 1st prize in the International Hindi Elocution Contest 2017.  She was awarded by His Excellency, Shri Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, at the Indian Embassy. Officiating Principal, Mr. Deep Wilson congratulated her and said that her eloquent speaking skills have brought laurels to the school. This contest was organized by the World Hindi Secretariat, which is a bilateral organization of the Governments of Mauritius and India. The Secretariat had organised this contest on the occasion of World Hindi Day 2017.


Indian School Muscat bagged the most coveted Ambassador’s Polemic Challenge-2015 Trophy, in the Inter-school Debate Competition, held at Indian School Darsait on 20th October 2015 under the auspices of the Board of Directors (BOD) Indian Schools, Sultanate of Oman. His Excellency Shri Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman bestowed the trophies and certificates to the grand debaters in the presence of Mr. Mathew Abraham Academic Advisor to the BOD and other dignitaries from the SMC of the host school.

Angela Alex and Samawiyah Nadeem Ulde, both from class 12 G, constituted the perfect captivating squad, bringing home the title ‘Best Team’ and the esteemed rolling trophy. Angela won the Best Speaker award and Samawiyah was declared the Second Runner-up. Twenty-four debaters from twelve Indian Schools participated in the hair-raising debate.

The Finance Club organized an Inter Class Quiz Competition for Commerce students of Class XI and XII on Monday 7th September 2015, at 12.00 pm in the New Multi-purpose Hall. The topic was based on Business and Economics. Principal Mr. Srinivas K. Naidu welcomed the gathering. Mr. Daljeet Singh was the Quiz Master. The finalists were shortlisted after the preliminary round and were divided into 4 groups. The teams as well as the audience involved enthusiastically throughout the competition. Amidst great cheer and applause, Mr. Deep Wilson Vice Principal Senior Section declared contestants Group ‘A’ the winner. The winners will represent Indian School Muscat in the much awaited Inter School Business Quiz which will be held in the month of October, 2015.


The Department of Malayalam organized a quiz competition for grades 9 and 10 in the New Multipurpose Hall on Monday, 7th September 2015. Quiz Mistress Mrs. Shyna Shajan supported by Mr. Shilin conducted the competition.

Six teams were selected out of the eleven that participated for the qualifying round. Mr. Deep Wilson, Vice Principal Senior Section inaugurated the Programme. Questions in six grilling rounds encompassed various aspects of Malayalam Literature, Politics, History, Culture, Cinema and Art.

Mifsaalu Rahman, Gokul Manoj and Aswin Sreekumar of Class X emerged as winners. The team comprising Lakshmi Anilkumar, Nadha Fathima, Najlah Noushad and Parvathy Aninash, Gayathri Babu, Divya Saseendran Pillai of Class X stood second and third positions respectively. The competitions worked as a catalyst in encouraging the students and acquainting them with Malayalam Literature and develop a taste in its glorious history.

Annual Inter House Music Talent Contest

Indian school Muscat bustling with a week-long Annual Inter House Music Talent Contest of the Senior Section from 31 August to 07 September, rolls out its gems in the field of music once more.

Conducted at Indian Social Club Hall the contest unfolded a series of individual, group, instrumental and vocal performances.

Participants from classes 9 to 12 showed great enthusiasm and zeal for healthy competition. The array of fascinating performances and untiring efforts of the students was praised by the adjudicators and the audience.
The contest was a great success in building self-esteem, promoting teamwork irrespective of age, gender and background, celebrating diversity, facilitating self-expression – and was just plain fun.


The Department of Mathematics conducted MATH QUIZ for classes XI and XII on 18th August 2015. A preliminary round for the same was conducted on 16th August 2015. Hundred and four students participated and ten students were selected for the finale.

The Quiz Masters Mr.Muralidharan and Mr.Gajendra Varthan did a commendable job .The entire department participated in the event whole heartedly. Principal Mr. Srinivas K Naidu, Vice-Principal Mr. Deep Wilson and the Asst. Vice Principal Mrs. Geeta Chauhan witnessed the programme.

Fizaa Luthra and Sitoshna Jatty of class 12 bagged the first position.  Chetlur Krishna 11 A and Dannel Jacob 11E excelled bagging second position. The participants as well as the audience enjoyed the interesting questions put forth.

Listen UP- Inter school Public Speaking Competition
Students of ISM from various levels were shortlisted for the Listen – Up – an Inter School Public speaking Competition, organised by the Muscat Daily. The semifinal round of the competition was conducted on 9th Feb 2014 in the school auditorium and one student from each category (i.e Primary, Middle, and Senior) has qualified for the finals which will be conducted on the 18th April 2014 at the Al Bustan Hotel Palace

                                                                 GREEN OLYMPIAD

Green Olympiad is an annual competition conducted by The Energy and Resources Institute New Delhi and sponsored by The Ministry of Environment and Forest, govt.of India. This written competition is aimed at creating   awareness about environmental issues like deforestation, pollution, global warming, climate change and other environmental issues. Indian School Muscat has been participating in this competition every year with hundreds of students appearing for the test with great enthusiasm from classes 8th to 10th.  An ISM student Tanvi Gupta made a record of winning the title of ‘Country Winner’ from Sultanate of Oman for past three consecutive years. Encouraging students to participate in Green Olympiad and Terra Quiz are the part of commitment of ISM in its efforts to protect the environment.
