ISM STUDENT WINS REGIONAL WRITERS’ GRAND PRIZE
HarleenOsahan(X-G) of Indian School Muscat,won the impressive Grand Prize for Creative Writing, in the Haiku Category in the finals AT THE National Level of the Regional Writers’ Workshop held at Sanskriti School, New Delhi.This work shop,held from 26th to 28th December 2014, witnessed more than 600 selected students, matching their potentials.
Noted Haiku Specialist Mrs. Kamala Ramesh mentored HarleenOsahan,throughout her journey to excellence. The organizers – KATHA,a nonprofit organization working in collaboration with the CBSE, were exceedinglypleased that students display greatluster in the field of creative writing. The workshop featured nationally and internationally acclaimed poets, story tellers, artists and illustrators.With the mission to enhance the joy of reading in children and adults, thereby helping to realize their latent potentials, this initiative creates “Reader Leaders”, through active story based learning, quality education and community action.Principal Mr. Srinivas K. Naidu and Senior Vice Principal Mr. Deep Wilson appreciated her and wished success in all facets of her ventures in similar lines.
ISM SHINES IN “ENTE KERALAM” QUIZ COMPETITION
Students from Indian School Muscat excelled in the “Ente Keralam” Inter school Quiz competition organized by Malayalam Wing of Indian Social Club, Muscat on 15th November 2014. It was a grand show with around 700 student participants from various Indian Schools in the Sultanate, who competed under two categories, Junior and Senior.
Two teams, consisted of three students each, from ISM bagged the First and third places in the competition. The First Place winning team consisted of Lekshmi Anilkumar , Nadha Fathima and Najlah Naushad and the team which won Third Place comprised of Gokulkrishna Manoj, Ashwin Sreekumar and Mifsalu Rahman. All of them belong to Class IX.
The Competition was held in two spells. A written Preliminary Round and a Final Direct Quiz Round. Six teams were shortlisted from the Written Round for the Finals. There were three teams from ISM, selected for the Final Round in the Senior Category. In the Final Round, there were six levels of questions based on various aspects related to Kerala, to examine the knowledge levels of the contestants.
The Limca Book of Records featured “Grand Master” Dr. G S Pradeep, famous for his “Aswamedham” T V Reverse Quiz Show, was the Quiz Master. He, often referred as a “moving encyclopedia”, is known for his high Intellectual and analytical skills and for his keen grasp of world and current affairs. He has been in the limelight, on Malayalam and Tamil Television.
The winners will be awarded the prizes, certificates and mementos during the “Keralothsavam” celebrations scheduled later this year.
Sara Elizabeth Mathew of Class X has made Indian School Muscat proud at the CBSE National Swimming Championships held between November 8th and 12th at Sonepat Haryana in India, by clinching the bronze medal in the Under -16 girls , 100 m free style competition . The other ISM students who took part in the event are Manav Gandhi of class X and Dean D’Souza of Class XI , who were awarded. They were accompanied by their teacher In- charge Ms. Manju Pathyarch.
ISM student hounoured by Indian Government
Gandham Kanaka Sai Satya Sudha , CBSE Gulf Topper and Silver Medal Winner in Humanities Stream with 93.6 per cent with Indian School Muscat, received certificate of Appreciation from Mr. Salman Khurshid , the Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of External Affairs. Gandham Kanaka Sai Satya Sudha emerged winner out of tens of thousands of students from 139 CBSE affiliated schools that enrolled students for 2012-13 AISSCE Examinations. The certificate of Appreciation was bestowed at the Gulf Council Conference held at New Delhi recently. Mr. Srinivas K.Naidu, Principal, Indian School Muscat, received the certificate from the minister on behalf of the school.

ISM student emerges winner of NSA
Johan John Cheriyan, Class IX- F of Indian School Muscat made the school proud by emerging one of the three national winners of National Space Olympaid (NSO) 2013-14, conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) , Kerala, India.
He was ranked third after three challenging elimination rounds of Space Quiz .CUSAT had conducted an online examination on January 19 to select students of classed VIII- X for the National Space Olympaid . Thousand of students fro all over India and Gulf countries participated in the online exam.
johan Johan Cheriyan was one of the 50 students who have been selected . He represented Indian School Muscat in the National Space Olympiad at Cochin on February 8.
NASA: SCIENTIST FOR A DAY COMPETITION
Students of ISM participated in the ‘NASA: Scientist For A Day ‘essay competition. Amongst thousands of participants Dhruv warrior of 11 C emerged as one of the twelve national winners from India and abroad. The other three participants were Shyam Krishnan, Abdul Manan and Ruchita Sandeep. Dhruv’s essay is posted on the NASA website.
